Co-Founder Michael Schaedel starts a new job as a Principal Software Engineer at Mapquest. One week into his job he loses his sister Shannon to opioid addiction. An addiction she had been struggling with for

In February, Michael Schaedel and Rick Pionkowski are introduced. They immediately become close friends and realize the stars must be aligned because they both have a similar passion. Michael goes straight to work utilizing the Touchphrase Interface and develops a community interoperability platform.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A close friend of Rick\u2019s passes away, and Rick recalls how she was fond of saying \u201cyou just have to love on them\u201d. From that phrase came the name for the new platform \u2013
Julota \u2013 an acronym for “J<\/b>ust L<\/b>ove O<\/b>n T<\/b>hem A<\/b>lways\u201d. <\/p>\n

Rick felt it was perfect because this is how he felt as an ER doctor concerning the vulnerable population. Michael agreed because he felt the same about his sister while she struggled with addiction.<\/p>\n

In the middle of a pandemic, Julota grows at 350% and expands rapidly throughout the country with varying degrees of city and county programs. In addition, Julota is also awarded the Washington Association of Sheriff & Police Chief\u2019s contract to support

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tWe run a co-responder program called PACT (Pitkin Area Co-responder Teams) pairing mental health clinicians with police to prevent unnecessary criminal justice involvement for low-level offenders with behavioral health symptoms or diagnoses. Since we are rural, we must coordinate services over a large geographical area, and we work with three different law jurisdictions. Julota has provided a central platform by which to collect vital data and statistics about the efficacy of our program. Julota is highly customizable, so we were able to tailor workflows to the specific needs of our partners, and consequently, there is no aversion to using it. The Julota staff have been very responsive and patient with our development process and change requests, and while we currently use the platform mostly to track law data, our mental health clinicians will soon be entering their information into it, as Julota is a HIPAA and 42CFR compliant technology. Like most EMS, our data systems were incident-based, but with MIH we needed to keep track of who we saw, how many times and what we saw them for. We also needed to be able to share that information. Julota has worked hard to create a data-sharing program that works for us. They have created bridges with other software vendors that serve different parts of the healthcare system. One software that is focused on hospital emergency visits, and Julota receives data from that source so we are alerted to when one of the patients we serve has gone to the emergency room. Another software collects data for 911\/EMS, and Julota gets data from that source.
